Acts of the Apostles introduces how the risen and ascended Christ continues to achieve his gospel purposes through the events in the book. It tells of the growth and development of the church geographically and ethnically. Acts is the important book in understanding the rest of the New Testament. This course focuses on understanding the message of Acts by examining its theology, historical background and depiction of Christian origins, especially Paul’s missionary journeys.
This module examines the experience of Israel from original conquest of the Land to her eventual exile, as recounted in the books of Joshua, Judges, 1 & 2 Samuel and 1 & 2 Kings. In the Hebrew Bible these books are referred to as the Former Prophets. This period provides us with a glimpse of what it means for God’s people to live securely in God’s place, guided by his king and prophets and so informs how we understand the Kingdom of God and the New Testament promise of an eternal inheritance.
This module looks at the Gospel and the letters of John. In the course we explore the distinctive portrait of Christ both in terms of content and style. Also this course examines exegetical and hermeneutical issues relevant to the study of the Johannine literature.

This course is a survey of the historical, social, political, economic, and religious background of the New Testament: the world of the first Christians, the life and teaching of Jesus, the origins and growth of the Early Church and the role of Paul, and the Jewish, Hellenistic, and Roman background of the New Testament. This course will provide a solid historical foundation for understanding the New Testament and preparation for the ministry.
This module is a survey of geographical and historical backgrounds of the Old Testament, including historical events and archaeology. This module will provide a solid historical foundation for understanding the Old Testament and the theological and vocational significance of OT texts. It will not focus on content, authorship and structures of individual OT books, which will be given in Advanced OT Studies at the BTh level.
As one of the four Pastoral Leadership and Management Modules, this module focuses on leadership skills. This module will also survey a range of topics which are related to teamwork, and their relevance to pastoral ministry. As a result of the above, this module lays string foundations for the development of the concept of discipleship and its application in the context of the local church. A general survey on a number of discipleship modals for local church will be explored and this module will focus on the application of at least one of the modals/frameworks. As a leadership course at the diploma level, this course serves as the final module which focuses on the enhancement of skills.

This module introduces the concept of spirituality and surveys the key themes, movements and personalities in the history of Christian spirituality with the aim of considering the application of these traditions to contemporary cultural and ecclesial contexts.
